TRANSLATED is a 90-minute site-specific walking performance for two performers, body and voice. TRANSLATED explores how a place comes into being through perception and attention, while movement and voice become tools for listening, translating and creating relation.
Two performers move towards one another from opposite ends of a route. The audience is divided into two groups, each following a performer.
It is dawn or dusk. A time of day when the rhythms of light and darkness exist side by side, as something begins and something ends.
Along the way, what they pass is translated into movement and voice. A slope. Wind. Birds. Concrete. Trees. What is already there becomes choreography and song, a composition emerging through the encounter between body, place and perception.
Two paths move towards one another. They meet. Movement and voice intertwine. Something takes shape before dissolving again. The performers part, and the audience chooses which path to follow next.
TRANSLATED begins from the proposition that the world is never encountered directly. It is always already translated through perception, experience, history and context.
The work asks what happens when this ongoing process of translation becomes visible through choreography and voice. Rather than simply following a performer through a place, the audience is invited into a body's way of sensing, choosing and relating to its surroundings.
At the same time, TRANSLATED investigates how these choices are shaped by what we move through, and how relations emerge between bodies, places and the invisible forces that bind them together.
TRANSLATED asks: What connections become possible when a person experiences themselves as part of the world they move through?
Co-produced and presented by Metropolis, TRANSLATED premieres on 28 August 2026 across three distinct sites in Copenhagen: Refshaleøen, Amager Fælled and H.C. Ørsted Park.
