KINISI is a dance and choreographic project that centers around embodied sensemaking, embodied knowledge and embodied logic. From philosophy to practice, KINISI works with the belief that moving teaches us about ourselves in this world, where dance and choreography create the frame for that knowledge to be viewed, shared and experienced.

TOOLBOX is a choreographic method initiated, researched and developed by Tim Matiakis, in the fall of 2022, with consultants Rachel Tess and Karen Vedel, and supported by Bikubenfonden and Forsøgsstationen.

TOOLBOX originated and was motivated by Tim´s interest to look back at the last five years of his choreographic work, to investigate and deepen the understanding of his choreographic practice.

A ten week research period ended up creating TOOLBOX, which arranged itself in a structure consisting of five interrelated parts, unfolded in the videos and adjoining publication.

A criteria from the onset, was to share the knowledge accumulated. The material that follows is,  besides being a sum up, a reflection and a conclusion, aimed to be shared in a way where other dancers, choreographers, performers and artists can use it in their own practice, or to serve as inspiration for new choreographic method investigations.

TOOLBOX consists of five interrelated parts, explained in the TOOLBOX intro video above.
Three of the parts are demonstrated on the videos below, whilst the remaining two parts are described in the adjoining publication.

It is recommended to watch the intro video of each part first, before freely exploring the videos of that part further.
